We develop proposals for different audiences in several formats. Our agenda is focused on the decolonization of everyday practices, disrupting with the racist imaginary.
weaving and braiding art
An activity where the public is invited to reflect on their relationship with hair and discuss aesthetics and identity. It is applied for all ages and presents techniques of braids, dreads and afro hairstyles (as knowledge of ancestral artistic expression).

stamping knowledge
A space to focus on Adinkras: a set of symbols that form a system of transmission of values, accumulated by the Akan people, from West Africa. In addition to stamping different surfaces, this workshop provides an immersive experience into African culture in its meanings and poetry.

Body expression activity that rescues memory and dance through musicalities of: Brazilian, African and Caribbean culture. Dances such as jongo, caboclinho, côco de roda and cacuriá are experienced.

Activity dedicated to building cartography and talking about improvement and technological advances existing in MEMORY – digital or physical. The objective is to take note of geographic aspects and develop analysis and recognitions. We propose an expedition into the territory to identify traces of ancestral memory written by the city and its surroundings, especially of the Adinkra symbols.

Made from inventiveness and fabric scraps, these dolls promote the precious encounter of the history of resistance of African people. The black dolls express the rescue and memory of a population that has equipped itself with diverse strategies to keep its existence alive through memory.

The workshop “Dreads: Why do I want you?” invites the public to experience in a playful way the practice of the so-called "Jamaican braids" and "woolen dreads", talking about the history and context of the use of dreads.
